Kim, an LCSW, received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Mary Washington College in Virginia in 2000 and her Master’s degree from Bryn Mawr College in 2002. Kim became licensed in the state of Pennsylvania in 2002 and later became certified as a Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional. She is a member in good standing with the National Association of Social Workers since September 2000. Kim commits to using a strength-based and individualized approach to assessment and therapy while drawing upon her training and experience in multiple modalities tailored to the needs of each client.
Over twenty years, Kim has served clients ranging from birth through adulthood in various settings. These include: Early Intervention Services, Intellectual Disabilities Department, Behavior Health Rehabilitation Services, STAP, Child/Adolescent Psychiatric Outpatient Clinics, and private practice. She has been responsible for the development and management of various evidence based curriculums as well as overseeing pilot service delivery models that went on to become standard service delivery models for managed care. Kim credits her work on multidisciplinary teams that led to her integrated care lens. She believes knowledge in human development, relationship based learning and the sensory processing system is critical to mental health assessment and treatment. Kim spent a decade supervising outpatient child/adolescent psychiatric clinic which specialized in neurodiversity and provided medication management, individual and group services and served clients toddlerhood through young adulthood. Kim became interested in diagnostic assessment/testing and its role in successful treatment outcomes where she trained with multidisciplinary teams in the nonprofit and private practice setting.
Kim’s areas of interest include supporting positive environments for neurodiversity. She has extensive experience with neurodiversity across the lifespan including Autism Spectrum Disorders, ADHD, 2E individuals (gifted & ND), mood and behavior dysregulation as well as social and emotional wellness. This experience has given Kim a view into the labyrinth that individuals and parents navigate while trying to seek and understand care. She works diligently with families to navigate the challenging and complex world of neurodevelopmental issues, mental health or behavioral health needs.
A cornerstone while working with individual, families, children and communities, is advocacy. Kim provides balanced advocacy in various settings such as schools, county government, state government, and has served as co-founder and president of a nonprofit organization whose main function is to advocate for families. Through her education, training and experience, Kim is passionate about empowering and assisting clients to minimize barriers to successful outcomes.
